Project Description
The stream between the properties on East Governor Dr and Riverview Farm Park is severely eroding. The project proposes to restore approximately 885 linear feet of stream channel in the Flax Mill Creek, located along the western perimeter of the Riverview Farm Park from Menchville Rd. to Shoemaker Cir. utilizing Natural Channel Design (NCD) techniques. In addition to the stream restoration, the design will incorporate a Stormwater Management Facility (SWMF or BMP) to control site runoff before discharging to the restored stream channel. This project will allow the City to complete bank stabilization, improve stormwater runoff flow to minimize future stream bank erosion, protect subsurface utilities and prevent subsequent property loss and meet a portion of the City’s TMDL reduction goals taking credit for pollutant reduction to the James River / Chesapeake Bay.
