Project Description
Menchville Marina Lighting & Dock
Improvements
The City of Newport News (the City) is pursuing improvements to the
Menchville Marina (the Marina). The Marina is comprised of parcel addresses
494, 520, 522, and 524 Menchville Road South. Proposed improvements include
lighting improvements, dock improvements/repairs, shoreline improvements, and
installation of new docks. The City has received grant funding for a portion of
the improvements and expects additional grants in the future to complete the
work in phases. The full design is to be completed under the first grant (as
described in this scope of work) as well as the installation of the lighting improvements.
The City’s total expected budget for this project is $1,400,000 and is to
include design, environmental permitting, utility relocation, land acquisition,
construction, and 15% construction contingency. Woolpert will attempt to design
a project that will fit within this budget and will provide updated cost
estimates with each submittal. If it appears this budget may not be sufficient,
Woolpert will notify and work with the City to determine the best way forward.
To the extent required, this scope of services and associated tasks will
include coordinating with the City and other relevant stakeholders as
identified herein, including Christopher Newport University (CNU) and James
River Holdings (JRH).
