Project Description
The Pearl Bailey Library, Doris Miller Community Center, and community program space will be combined into a single, collaborative community resource that provides access to all community uses and engages the historic core of the original Huntington School as a shared community resource for the neighborhood and the greater Newport News community. The original building will be retained and repurposed to include meeting and multi-purpose activity spaces. the new community building includes indoor pool facility for year-round community use, the New Peral Bailey library, and outdoor green spaces.

Substantial Completion - 4-7-26 Final Completion - 5-7-2026 Change Order % - .7.% CMU walls are going up. Foundation work is ongoing, Steel is still being erected Shop drawing/RFI review is on going Dominion has notified us that design work will now be completed by the end of April. Team has a call into Dominion requesting update. *Met with MEB and determined the new substantial completion for the MS date is July 2027 , Center' substantial completion date is roughly 4 months behind the MS wildlife continues to be a problem, MEB declines the City's request to camera ducts to make sure no wildlife droppings are present. Same issue as ECDC BMP, where we have two different completion dates, spoke to Flora and we can submit a revised 05/08/2026
