Sluice Mill Dam Improvements

Project Description
The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) notified the City that they believe the earth impounding structure for Sluice Mill Pond should be a regulated dam. The structure has been preliminarily evaluated and it appears the structure could qualify as a regulated dam. A formal evaluation will be performed to determine the hazard category and accompanying requirements. Warwick Blvd and a sanitary pump station are just downstream of the dam and consideration must be made for protecting the road during a dam failure. The hazard classification for the dam will determine the required storm the dam must safely pass.

Comments

The City has hired Arcadis, through our annual services contract to perform the preliminary evaluation of the dam. The preliminary evaluation will determine if the dam is regulated and the hazard classification. Arcadis will also prepare grant applications for several of the required initial tasks. 11/10/2021
